About Me
Hi there, my name is Gladys Trevino and I am a proud Proud Professional School Counselor at Dr. Joe Ward Elementary in Northside Independent School District. I will be starting my 12th year as an educator. I have been a Professional School Counselor for 9 years and a bilingual teacher for 3 years prior.

My favorite thing about counseling is meeting the individual emotional needs of all my students, creating positive relationships and allowing my students to develop self regulation skills.

Some fun facts about me. I love to sing and dance. Coffee and Dr. Pepper are my weakness. I am a very energetic person who enjoys listening to music and creating engaging lessons. During my free time I love spending time with my family and friends.

How I work with students
Guidance Curriculum
I visit classrooms to help students in K-5th learn different life long social skills. Some examples of topics include: Friendship, Kindness, Bullying, Safety, Self Expression, Goal Setting and Planning.
Responsive Services
I meet with individual students and small groups to focus on a specific need. Some topics include: Self-Confidence, Self-Control, Coping Strategies, Fears, Friendship, Responsible Behaviors and Bullying.
Individual Planning
I can help guide students in planning their future by establishing goals. Each student learns the necessary steps towards his/her personal goals. This is especially helpful in improving academic goals and transitioning to middle school.
System Support
I meet with parents, teachers and other school professionals to make decisions to help students be successful. I participate in campus based school goals and  continue to grow professionally by attending training.
Clubs and Groups

Young Gentlemen's Organization
Teaching our young men how to be responsible members of society and servant leaders in our community.

Mindful Mornings
Practicing mindfulness through deep breathing and holding poses. A great way to begin our week.

Spirit Rallies and Assemblies
Creating fun and exciting events to motivate our students and staff. We partnered with our feeder middle school and high school to create memorable events.
